A Lady in Kampung Sait calling for your support for "RM20 to UBAH Sarawak"

Under "Impian Sarawak", we seek to make a difference not only in our electoral battlegrounds but more importantly, in the lives of our fellow Malaysians in rural Sarawak who have long been neglected and deprived by the Barisan Nasional government.

Here is the picture of a lady in Kampung Sait calling for your support for "RM20 to UBAH Sarawak" online donation campaign to change the lives of her fellow Sarawakians in other areas of rural Sarawak. We are doing our first "Impian Sarawak" project now at Kampung Sait. The project will be completed on 5 Oct 2013. (See below for more information about "Impian Sarawak".)

IMPIAN SARAWAK

For decades, Barisan Nasional has deprived the rural communities of their basic rights and habitually uses pre-election handouts in exchange for their votes. We vow to do things differently to bring about genuine change to their lives.

Under "Impian Sarawak", we will provide basic infrastructure - roads, water and electricity. Usually project such as this will be done and maintained in gotong-royong style by the villagers so the money we collected from this campaign will not go to any contractor but to the village fund directly. We also welcome volunteers who want to do the project together with the villagers to foster greater understanding between the rural and urban Malaysians.

With basic facilities in place, the villagers can then focus on “Impian Sarawak” economic uplift projects such as cottage enterprises to earn stable incomes. At the same time, we’ll strive to educate the rural communities on their democratic rights as rightful Malaysian citizens.

In short, we want to return to the rural communities the dignity to choose the government they want - a dignity that every citizen in a democratic country deserves.

We need financial support from the public so we can continue to do similar projects in many areas across Sarawak. One gravity fed water system, which cost RM20k, can give the whole village clean running water. One simple road, which is about RM10k-RM20k depending on the distance, can be a matter of life and death. No matter how little we can contribute, let's do our part as concerned Malaysians.
