GEORGE TOWN: All 156 Penang Voluntary Patrol Unit (PPS) members, who
were detained after Merdeka parade, were released by last night.
They are all out on police bail.
Only Seri Delima assemblyman RSN Rayer, who was arrested on Monday, remains in police custody.
He is being investigated under Section 43 of the Societies Act 1966 for alleged close links with PPS.
The first batch of 21 PPS members were released on Sunday.The remaining PPS members were remanded for a day on Monday.
A second batch of 30 PPS members, including PPS chairman and state executive councillor Phee Boon Poh, was released on Monday evening.
The rest were released in batches in the next few hours, with last batch of 11 members walking from the Northeast district police headquarters in Jalan Patani at about 10pm.
They were given a rousing reception by DAP leaders and members as they walked out free Roses were given to them amidst cheers from a large crowd.
