MANY
motorists have urged the Luyang Assemblyman Hiew King Cheu to reflect
and forward their objection to the implementation of the expensive A1
car parking rates which are being marked red in the car parking lots in
the Lintas Plaza.
The new car parking
rate for the A1 parking lots is RM1.00 for half hour and the same for
every half hour. If parked for the whole day of 9 hours, you will have
to pay up to RM18.00.
The
people said this measure is good to disallow the car owners to occupy
the car parking lots for a whole day, and deprived the chance for other
to park.
The
people in Lintas Plaza objected to DBKK marking both sides of the whole
street there into the A1 rated car parking lots. They said their
customers also complained about the expensive parking rate. The shop
operators said their business are being affected in certain way.
Hiew
inspected the Lintas Plaza car park lots and interviewed some people
there. He found the complaints are valid in certain extend and he agreed
to them that he will bring up the matter with the DBKK to seek a
solution to the matter.
Hiew
somehow felt that the measure taken by the DBKK is a good way to
counter the situation whereby people occupied and took up parking spaces
for whole day long. The other people have no chance to park their cars
and forced to illegally double-park and to risk being summoned.
In
Lintas Plaza and Lintas Square, the parking spaces are very limited
especially with the ever increasing number of cars flooding the area.
The multi-storey car park would be an ideal place for long hour parking
if the parking rates can be reduced to a more affordable level,
especially on the monthly parking season tickets.
Hiew
suggested that it is not necessary to mark both side of the same whole
street into red parking lots (A1), but instead DBKK should consider
marking and converting 5 parking lots for each block into red parking
rates. This will help the people who need to find a short time parking
to get into the shop to do their business. This is especially important
in front of the banks for their customer’s security and safety reasons.
On
the other hand, Hiew requested DBKK to look into opening up more
parking spaces and other facilities like multi-storey car parks in the
Lintas and Foh Sang shops. Looking for a car parking lot has become very
difficult, thus it is high time that DBKK should act fast to solve the
problem.
