Anwar - the man with a spirit made of steel ?? - by : Jamal

Having watched the recent speech made by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at a political rally in Miri in Sarawak leading up to the state elections this week, one cannot but to feel touched that he does actually speak about things which touches the heart.

He mentioned how he had dined with royals as well as given food thrown on the floor like dog food, he wore nicely decorated clothes as well as being stripped naked.

What he is saying is he has been at the pinnacle of life as well as gone to its lowest. And that is very true. Anyone with a sane mind and a normal human spirit would not be able to withstand such humiliation and torture.

But he did. And one should salute him for that. Because if not for his strong human spirit, he would not be standing and speaking to people now.

And then there are the accusations, charges, allegations and everything else. The thing is, it does not matter if he is ‘obsessed’ with trying to be the prime minister or crazy for power.

It does not really matter if he is an agent for the US or whoever. The thing that really matters is whether he deserves a break. Not those self-taken breaks where one goes for a vacation but a break from those who wants to put him down.

One would like to see how Anwar would fare in a level playing field without all the distractions (like court cases, sex scandals, etc). But that would surely not happen because it seemed that whatever happens is skewed towards discrediting him.

But it seemed that he is still going strong despite all the ‘distractions’ which wants to keep him at bay. In fact, he goes on tour around the state, speaks at rallies, give lectures and all that and he doesn’t seemed to tire.

So whatever it takes, whatever it is going to be, whether or not he is guilty in the trial for sodomy, you can expect to continue seeing him around because it looks like he is not in the mood of giving up anytime soon.

Because if he had that intention, he would have done so a long time ago. No one would be so ‘hadap’ and ‘thick faced’ to keep coming back after all that he had to go through.
