Nurul Izzah: PKR funds drained after polls ??

GEORGE TOWN -Newly elected PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar said the recent party direct elections have drained the party's coffers, The Star reported.

“The direct election process was significantly challenging in terms of logistic and financially draining. I am not saying this in a negative manner but we are being realistic,” the Lembah Pantai MP was quoted as saying.

It was costly having a direct election process for each division, said Nurul Izzah after the launch of “Bersih” (Coalition for a Clean and Fair Elections) state chapter at the Caring Society complex here on Tuesday.

Nurul Izzah, who is PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim’s daughter, also said in jest that she hoped there would be time to raise funds for the party campaign at the next general election.

She said she hoped the next election would not be soon despite speculation that one would be called next year.

“Although PKR is always ready for a general election, I hope the next one will not be too soon,” she said.
