Bung Mokhtar case: NGO wants him to quit as MP for setting bad example ??

KUALA LUMPUR: About 15 women from Joint Action Group for Gender Equality (JAG) gathered outside Gombak Timur Syariah Court here on Tuesday to demand Kinabatang MP Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin quit as member of parliament for setting a bad example.

Bung and his second wife actress Zizie Izette A Samad pleaded guilty on April 20 to entering into a polygamous marriage without the consent of the court and are expected to be sentenced Tuesday.

In a peaceful protest, the JAG women said that a man of Bung's stature had set a bad example and demanded he step down as MP.

The couple were released on oral bail of RM500 each in one surety.

Five other men, including Zizie's three brothers also pleaded guilty at the same court to abetting Bung.

Zizie and Bung were married on Dec 16 last year in Taman Melati.

Both are represented by counsel Amli Embong.
