Just how INSENSITIVE is Bung Mokhtar? - by jamal

These days, who doesn’t know Datuk Bung Mokhtar?

The Kinabatangan MP who seemed to like to ‘get into the spotlight’ either through political means, through controversial remarks or better still, through the celebrity way.

His latest effort must have been through his remarks where he said that women drivers are the cause of road accidents.

But well, he is very much renowned for his somewhat ‘sexist’ stand when he was embroiled in some ‘bocor’ remarks before the 2008 General Election.

It was in May 9 2007 when in a heated argument over the leakages in the ceilings of the Parliament during the 11th Malaysian Parliament then where Bung Mokhtar, together with Mohammad Said Yusof, the then Jasin MP said “Mana ada bocor? Batu Gajah pun bocor tiap-tiap bulan juga”

Batu Gajah was referred to the then MP, Fong Po Kuan. Both of them eventually had to issue an official public apology to all Malaysian women a week later. However Fong was less than interested as she claimed that the two MPs had apologized because they were pressured to do so.

And then there was that one time when Bung Mokhtar and another controversial MP, Datuk Ibrahim Ali had been insensitive to the disabled. They both had called on Karpal Singh, the DAP chairman who is on a wheelchair to ‘stand up’ in order to show respect to the speaker.

And now this….

Just to shed a bit more light into this guy, Bung Mokhtar if you haven’t already know had recently (last year) pleaded guilty to polygamy where he has been sentenced by the Syariah Court to 1 month’s jail and RM1,000 fine. This is for marrying actress Zizie Izette Abdul Samad without the consent of the Syariah court.

Apparently, they are very ‘loving’ and did not show any remorse when the sentence were read out to them. In fact, after the sentencing, they drove off in their Porsche Cayenne. Well, the jail sentences have been revoked in lieu of the fine so he is pretty much scot-free for that.

Now, that is an elected representative mind you.. doesn’t that leave a bad taste in your mouth? Sometimes it makes you wonder just what sort of people are elected to the parliament.
