Are We Traitors/Penderhaka? - Jasmine.c

×
First and foremost let us see the definition of the meaning of the word “traitor” or what we call  in the Malay language as “penderhaka.”

Traitor means a person who is guilty of treason or treachery, in betraying friends, country, a cause or trust. It can also mean a person who changes to the enemy’s side or gives away information to the enemy. Now let us get to the real motive of what that I want to write.

We all live in a beautiful country call Malaysia, a land that flows with milk and honey. God has blessed our country with great natural resources.

We have multiracial community living together with a vast difference of  a richly cultured community, races and religion. Where can we find this type of diversity in a country such as ours.

We are to be indeed thankful for all these that God has blessed us with. But sad to say things are no longer as they were before due to everything that has been made political for the benefit of those political leaders who want it only for their selfish political agenda.

Today we see many activist who hails from the civil society, concerned community and from the social media are branded with the title “traitors” just because they all stood up for one purpose and that is the truth and for what is right.

Is it wrong to stand their grounds for what is right and truthful? Is it wrong to fight against corruption, to fight for environmental justice, to stand up for a free and fair elections, to highlight scandals that involves leaders who are  governing the country, to fight for freedom of speech and many more that is to be done for a good cause with a good intention for the benefit of the “rakyat” and the country?

But sad to say that when these minority groups of good intended citizens who stood up for the above mentioned things, they were all labelled as “traitors” or “penderhaka” to the country or to the political parties no matter if it is the ruling government of BN/UMNO or Pakatan Rakyat.

The minority group of well concerned citizens who fights for the betterment of the country for the people are not paid to come forward to get down to the streets to demo and rally to stand up for what is right.

This is their national service to the country that they love. Yet, they are labelled as traitors and penderhakas!

As I had mentioned earlier, the definition of traitor is when we betray our country by giving out or selling confidential secrets of our country to another country. But, activist, civil society, concerned citizens and the media had not done anything like that.

They are all branded as traitors for only one reason, that is because they are brave and bold enough to stand up for what is right and truthful.

Let me ask the leaders in the ruling party of BN/UMNO that is it wrong to ask for a FREE and FAIR Elections?

Is it a wrongful act when activist that hails from the civil society and concerned citizens stand up to fight for environmental justice?

To BN/UMNO and Pakatan Rakyat, is it wrong when the media brings out the truth of political leaders involved in scandals and corruption?

To the Opposition, we say that we want a CHANGE, don’t we? If the Opposition wants a Change then it has to start with the leaders first. How can we have Change and Reform when there are scandals and corruption within you leaders.

How are we going to have a clean government when the leaders itself are polluted with these things?

Leaders in the Opposition should be transparent in everything if they intend to take over the present government. If the leaders in Pakatan Rakyat are still swimming in the sea of scandals and corruption, what difference does it make between Pakatan Rakyat and the present BN/UMNO government?

As I had mentioned in my last article, I am a hardcore supporter of Pakatan Rakyat. I am not at all interested in the BN/UMNO government but am more interested in Pakatan Rakyat.

Will they be able to deliver to the the rakyat? I am also a registered voter. So to vote my leaders I want to make sure that I am casting my vote for a leader who has integrity and free from scandals and corruption.

A leader who stands up by his principles and who has the heart and passion for the “rakyat.” That is the kind of leader that I want and the majority of us would want to have, don’t we?

I want to see a Change and Reform in this country. And for that to happen we need good leaders to govern this country wisely, justly and for the good of all Malaysians.

Leaders of Pakatan Rakyat need to buckle themselves up seriously before the next 13 GE. We do not want Pakatan Rakyat leaders to have skeletons in their closets and carrying them into Putrajaya.

Be thankful when certain things are revealed for the betterment of the leaders and the candidates. We do not want “jumping frogs,” God willing after Pakatan Rakyat wins in the coming 13 GE.

Please do think about the “rakyat” who are coming from all walks of life and ages to come out to vote hoping that the leaders will not disappoint them. And one word of advice to those leaders out there, whether you are from BN/UMNO or Pakatan Rakyat, STOP labeling those who are standing up for what is right and the truth as “traitors” and “penderhakas.” They do not deserve it. These citizens are in fact doing national service by helping both sides to clean up everything before the next 13GE.

Do think about it before it is too late to clean up the mess!

God Bless
Towards A Better Malaysia
